Bliss Couture starts the series of interviews with a model that we love. Mimmi Boa is the first special guest of Bliss Celebrities and we invited her to talk about her incredible carrear. Miss Best of Fashion 2008, Miss Virtual World 2009, Miss Bliss Couture 2010, Top Ten Most Elegant Women Of The Grid, Nominee Best Model Of The Year 2008/2009/2010/2011, Nominee Avatar of the Year 2011. She is also one of our most generous friends, sharing her experience of the SL fashion world to young mannequins.
Mimmi doesnt need an introduction, and we are glad we had her as our flawless testimonial in 2010 and now opening the gala of Bliss 4th Anniversary.
Mimmi is an icon of SL fashion. Would you like to tell us about your incredible carrear?
Mimmi_What to say? When i joined SL the modeling was not exactly in the plans, being a newbie I honestly do not know there were such a fashion business in this metaverse world!
Having the fashion in my DNA was also a natural to approach in this world and i did it! I started in a very shy way to approach the fashion system in December 2007 and in few months I have become a popular model throughout the grid.
After this I won several competitions, posed as a testimonial for the best designers to the apex of December 2008 when I won the most important fashion and beauty contest ever: Miss Virtual World.
I had an amazing year full of committments, charity projects (Maseno Project), shows and fun!
The next year i was crowned Miss Bliss Couture and i was always active in the business beside representing the brand all over the Grid!
In my career I think I walked in approx 1000 shows, I have been and still are in the best modeling agencies of the grid.
I have my model agency: "SoloEvane model agency" (with my business partner and friend Ellendir Khandr)
I have my school and I also teach at the Miss Virtual World Academy.
I think I can say without false modesty that I am really proud of what I did, about how I behaved and about the " lil of me" I left in the history of fashion in SL.
Would you like to tell us about how did you know Bliss Couture?
Mimmi_It is impossible to say when I knew Bliss Couture because this brand is since its debut synonymous with class and elegance. Working in the fashion business it is normal to be constantly updated on the best of the best therefore I have always heard of Bliss and I must admit that for me it was "love at first sight" with the unmistakable style of Amutey Decuir.
How do you think the brand changed during the past years?
Mimmi_The cleverness and intelligence of Amutey is to remain faithful to a certain style (her style) but always with an eye to current trends.
Who loves the Bliss style wants to dress Bliss and for this reason the textures, shapes, cuts and details must be absolutely fashion but unmistakably Bliss.
We are celebrating our 4 year anniversary. What are your best memories about the brand?
Mimmi_I have many memories associated with Amutey and her brand: the first gown I loved to bits that was Bella, omg i remember I was crazy for that piece and I still save it in my inventory after years!
I keep in my memory the moments spent with Amutey, talking and laughing, the great year as Miss Bliss 2010 and the shows Bliss organized for the brand, really a pleasure and so much fun!
Mimmi Boa is not only a great model, that we all love and admire, but also a teacher. Her Mimmi Boa Modeling Academy (MBMA) is for sure one of the very few places where to learn how to be a mannequin from someone who worked for the most talented SL designers and appeared on the most famous magazines. What are the first qualities that a model must have to be successful?
Mimmi_My Academy is my proud and I can't remember how many supermodels of the Grid were MBMA students!
I love to teach, I love my students and I have care of all of them ready to help all the way. My lessons are not only usual technical lessons but also a mix of advices, tips, suggestions and experiences shared and commented.
A lot of people want to be a model because it's glamorous, interesting and so kool and you might want to be recognized in the modeling world.
Modeling is extremely competitive, and the industry is filled with rejection, but successful models are doing something that they love. Here are some major truths about becoming a model:
“In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”
The first step i teach is the importance of the uniqueness. In SL it is easy to be beautiful you only need few money and good taste and you can create a gret avatar but this is not enough to be a model!
Beauty is nothing without uniqueness and personality, actually in the fashion system of SL the bare is very high so my first suggest is to experiment and test looks that can represent you and your own soul but with an innovative look!
Please be creative, don't be satisfied by the first good look and dare to be different let people turn heads when they see you!!!
Remember one of my quotes "do not copy others, let others copy you"
Decide wich kind of woman/man you want to be, it is very important to be recognizeable so try to be faithfull to one typology; example: If you want to be a red irish woman/ man, put all your efforts and creativity working on that look and the same if you want to be a creole queen, a swedish blond baby or whatever you want to be!
Remember is very important to have something that makes you unbeatable (do you remember the mole of Cindy Crawford or the adorable masculine hair cut of Nadege du Bospertus ???)
Let me say also you couldn't go very far if you do not have confidence in what you do and in who you are. You need to believe in youself, have self-confidence, but also be realistic.
Assuming you have a beautiful face and body, they are still not enough to ensure success. There are certain things you need to succeed in any field, and beside the mentioned uniqueness you must be professional, in love with fashion, humble, nice, with NO DIVA attitude, passionated and always ready to smile.
Remember to be the best PR of yourself, educate yourself: there is a lot you can learn from blogging, fashion events, shows and, of course in the good academies but do not forget we can't teach good taste and attitude, they are in your DNA!
You have been our stunning testimonial in 2010. Miss Bliss Couture is having its third edition now. What are the secrets to win, and how do you feel being the face of a SL fashion label?
Mimmi_There are no secrets to win but I can give you some tips: uniqueness, elegance and perfect accessoires.
Try to be different from the crowd and be able to transmit an emotion, even if it is virtual.
Do not have enough of experiment the best looks to enhance you, test poses, walks, hair styles, jewelry, shoes. Remember to add something that will talks about you and try to "feel what you are wearing".
Being the "Face" of Bliss Couture means to promote the brand with dedication, love, affection and always trying to be a perfect testimonial even if you are not on the catwalk.
If you are an icon of style people want to see you perfect, (it's like in RL) and we must be absolutely what people is expecting to see.
No diva attitude is request from Amutey, she hates divas......
Be yourself and put your best effort when you will perform on stage!
Bliss Couture recently presented its first mesh collection. You worn so many wonderful outfits, what do you think about this important step for the design of the brand?
Mimmi_It is fundamental to be always updated and the mesh is a consequence of the innovations that characterize the improvement of SecondLife.
I think it is natural for a well known brand as Bliss Couture being updated offering exciting new dresses to love at first sight. If you are not in step with the times you can never be on top of the list of the customers.
Whats your styling suggestions to perfectly wear a gown?
Mimmi_When you have to be amazingly gorgeous with a gown you have to keep present to match the right colors of skin, hairs and jewelry keeping on mind to follow the color wheel and also your good taste. Choosing the right color combinations you will enhance every outfit at its best giving an extraordinaire allure and emphasizing your beauty!
I am very picky and I spend hours choosing the right accessoires........ but I can't help.....I have tons of items but sometimes I think I do not have enough!
What are your future projects?
Mimmi_Since several months i am not longer online with the same frequency as before because of RL.
Despite this i still have time for my big committments and I do my best for being update about trends and to be present in the biggest shows and events.
I will be always available for Bliss Couture and so, whenever you need me you have just to call!
